Kia Ora Koutou
There has been no shortage of kindness over the past few months. It’s been an extremely challenging time for many, but we have been overwhelmed by the many stories of hope and joy from all over the country.

We shared lockdown with our Whanau and for us, it was a time of quiet reflection. We thought a lot about everyone who has been on this journey with us: our guests, our team, our contractors, our suppliers – all those people we have worked with and deeply value. Considering this, we wanted to take the time to provide a quick update on the future of our business.

So what's Next
First, our restaurant will be redeveloped into a completely new offering named Brick. Our ambition is to create a space that is accessible, joyful, design-led, sustainable, and home to all that visit. We have engaged designers to help us bring new life to our courtyard and dining room.

Brick will trade all-day, serving delicious soul food (most of which will come from our new planted gardens), and be the neighbourhood spot for families, hotel guests, cyclists, dog-walkers and the many wonderful people that call Monaco Village home.

Grand Mercure Monaco Resort
Second, the resort will morph into a boutique 5-Star property, boasting 25 rooms. We will be improving and renovating all rooms, as well as our lobby. The emphasis will be on championing New Zealand culture, the spectacular setting, and the unique character of our property.

We are currently working with our designers and dreaming up something beautiful, so watch this space.

Co-working at Monaco
Third, we have launched a new shared office business called Co-Working at Monaco. Our first space has been a fantastic success and has sold out in the first couple of months. We now plan on extending this business and developing a bespoke shared office above our Cafe

The office will have a combination of permanent and hot desks and breakout spaces, and will also have a private meeting room which will be available for rent by the hour or day. We are so excited about the different companies, start-ups, creatives and freelancers that are choosing to work here.

As you can see, we are beavering away at making Monaco resort more magical, but this won’t stop us welcoming more permanent residents into the Village and ensuring the standard of the property is kept high. We are pumped, and getting very little sleep, but loving every second of it!
We cannot wait to host you again very soon!

Nga mihi nui,
From the entire Whanau at the Grand Mercure Monaco Nelson
We'll be back better than ever!
